Prevention & Performance Screening

Performance MOT in London

Most injuries are a weak link you could have spotted first: the Performance MOT measures how you move and how much load you can handle, so you close the gap before it becomes a problem.

Performance MOT can help to:

Catch weaknesses before they become injuries

Objective screening finds the imbalances and asymmetries that sit behind recurring problems, so you can address them before they cost you time.

See exactly where you stand

Force-plate testing turns a vague sense of weakness into hard numbers on jump, landing and how evenly you load left and right.

Get a clear, prioritised plan

You leave with your results explained in plain English and the few things most worth working on for your goals.

Start with a low-commitment first step

It is a simple way to begin with us, and where the screen flags something that needs treatment we guide you into the right pathway.

Track progress you can actually measure

Because the screen is objective it can be repeated, so you can see asymmetries closing and force production improving over time.

An initial consultation at Kaizen Physiotherapy & Performance

At your first appointment we work out what is really holding you back, then agree the plan with you before you leave.

Your initial visit runs 45–60 minutes: a detailed history, then a thorough examination of movement, strength and the affected area. We explain what we find in plain English and agree a working diagnosis together.

Treatment starts the same day, and you leave with the first exercises of a plan built around your goal.

David helped me when I started to have a strong tibia pain only 5 weeks before the marathon. I genuinely thought at some point that I wasn’t going to be able to do it and I did my PB!

Couldn’t recommend this physio team enough! They helped me recover from a knee injury 3 weeks before the London Marathon which I thought was going to prevent me from running it! Everyone was really friendly, supportive and genuinely cared about helping me reach my goal. Special thanks to Charlie, Gus, Brad and Stef!

I came to Dave with an ongoing injury that I’ve been struggling with for months! He helped sort it out straight away, also giving me some exercises to help target the area to get back to full strength. I’m now back to running pain-free already and training properly — I’ll definitely be recommending Kaizen Physiotherapy to my clients!

Gus worked miracles to get me running a marathon after being injured 6 weeks out. He worked out the issue really quickly and provided a clear and actionable plan to deal with it. The sports massages were the best I’ve ever had too — thanks Peggy! Can’t recommend Gus and Peggy enough.

I had such a positive experience working with Brad at Kaizen. He supported me through a meniscus tear and got me all the way back to running a half marathon and HYROX training. Everything was structured, progressive, and easy to follow, and I always felt like I was in safe hands.

FAQs

What is a Performance MOT?

A Performance MOT is an objective screening of how you move, how strong you are, and where you are asymmetrical, combining a movement assessment with force-plate testing. It is designed to catch weaknesses and imbalances before they become injuries. You leave with your numbers, a plain-English explanation, and a prioritised plan for your goals.

Do I need to be injured to book a Performance MOT?

No, the opposite. The Performance MOT is a prevention service for people who are not injured but want to stay that way, or who have a performance goal and want a measured starting point. It is a low-commitment way to begin with us. If we find a problem that needs treatment, we guide you into the right physiotherapy pathway.

What is force-plate testing?

Force plates are objective measurement tools that record how much force you produce and how you absorb load through movements such as jumping and landing. They reveal left-to-right differences and control issues the eye alone cannot detect. We use that data to make your screening measurable and to track your progress at re-tests over time.

Is a Performance MOT a medical diagnosis?

No. It is a performance and injury-risk screen, not a diagnosis of disease or a substitute for medical investigation. We measure movement, strength, and asymmetry to guide training and reduce injury risk. If your screen flags something that needs clinical assessment, we will tell you and direct you to the appropriate physiotherapy pathway.

Who is the Performance MOT best suited to?

It suits runners, gym-goers, and anyone with a performance goal who wants an objective picture of their body rather than waiting for an injury. It is particularly useful before starting a new training block, returning after a past injury, or building towards an event. Founder David Thomas brings a professional-sport background to the assessment.
